Drydocks World celebrated “The World Day for Safety and Health at Work” on 28 April. It is an important event for Drydocks World as it consistently emphasizes the value of occupational safety and health management systems to over 10,000 employees. The event was used a platform to emphasis the Theme for 2016 “Workplace Stress: a collective challenge” to all the stake holders. 

Drydocks World has awarded its employees and the service providers for their exceptional safety performances. Highlight of the vent is the award for  delivery of World’s largest turret project where DDW has achieved 6.1 million man-hours without any loss time injuries.

Our event included an exhibition where Departments displayed various safety equipments and process that are adopted by them for achieving “Zero Harm” within the company. Safety quizzes were conducted to test and recognize the employees for their knowledge in safety.

Drydocks World has always focused on continual improvement in prevention and control of risks and as a part of this initiative, a new “Disaster Management Control Room” was inaugurated on the same day. Disaster control room has been fully equipped and will act as a facility to centralize all strategic planning and management for disasters and major emergency events arising from any activities and services in the yard. The facility will also be a management/ coordination center during major emergency situations to work with the relevant local government authorities.

The celebration of this magnificent occasion unfolds with welcome note address by HSEQ Director, followed by President and COO. Dr. CS Kim, President and COO at Drydocks World started his speech, saying: "I’d like to thank all the workforces who put health and safety at Drydocks World as a priority which can’t be to be reckoned with, as our policy aims to overcome the generally accepted standards in the areas of health and safety so as to ensure the safety of our employees and business partners toward continuing our journey to achieve the "Zero Harm" pledge, which aims to reach zero level of harm caused to the environment and society and staying safe and healthy for the company, ourselves and our loved ones."
