Drydocks World wins 'Seatrade Award for Clean Shipping'

Drydocks World and Maritime World the leading provider of maritime and offshore services to the shipping, oil, gas and energy sectors has received the Clean Shipping Award at the Seatrade Awards ceremony for the “Chariot Robotics” technology implemented in the yard.

When Chariot Robotics machines for hull blasting were introduced, the technology instantly became a huge success in the yard and with clients. Several studies were done at the start of the project to understand the technology and its implications in Drydocks World. Both these studies and the technology gave the confidence to invest in the Robotics machines. The equipment operations were modified to suit Drydocks World’s environment with the yard increasing the number of Robotics machines used to 20% of all maintenance and repair operations. The success of the Group’s approach in implementing "Chariot Robotics" technology is the outcome of the continuous study, ongoing development and the unlimited innovation that the group is consistently maintaining.

Drydocks World has incorporated Chariot Robotics machines into the yards operations to reduce pollution and increase productivity. This hydro-blasting method on a vessel’s hull emits zero toxins to the environment and the eco-friendly enclosed blasting and painting sheds with dust and fumes extraction systems minimize air emissions through a grit recycling system that is capable of using 100% recycled steel grit.

Drydocks World strategy since 2012 aims to implement the concept of sustainable development in evolving future business, where the concept of sustainability is defined by the revolutionary changes in methods of dealing with environmental issues by finding solutions and planning the appropriate methods to overcome obstacles. This methodology comes as part of a larger implementation of initiatives set to achieve sustainable development required by the energy industry. Drydocks World Group has developed and modified initiatives to meet the needs of the offshore and maritime industry, welcoming proposed initiatives from global partners and clients, as well as disemminating sustianble messages and practices through all subsidiaries, stakeholders and clients.

Drydocks World Group has instilled a culture of "Zero Harm," an initiative adopted by the Group that continues to reach zero harm to health, safety and the environment in order to protect the company’s man power and surrounding environment. The group maintains a responsibility towards the environment, people and society and marine industry. Implementing such cutting-edge environmentally friendly technology demonstrates the yards dedication to sustainable innovation for the future.
